Grant McDonald

Managing Director

Grant McDonald spent over 40 years with KPMG in Canada, the US and the Caribbean, and was a partner of the firm for 30 years until his retirement in 2025.  Over the course of his career, he served significant multinational clients in a variety of industries, particularly in the aerospace and defense (A&D) sector, as well as manufacturing, technology and financial services. In the A&D industry, he worked with many major prime contractors and supply chain participants in Canada, the US and UK/Europe focusing on mergers, acquisitions and carve-out transactions. Grant was also the global leader of KPMG’s aerospace industry practice, leading a team of KPMG professionals from around the world serving clients, publishing thought leadership on current industry issues and attending global industry networking events such as the Farnborough and Paris airshows, DSEI, the Space Symposium and others.

 Mr. McDonald graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen’s University (Canada) and subsequently received his designation as a Chartered Accountant (Ontario).  He was elected a Fellow CPA for his professional and community service.  Over the course of his career Mr. McDonald held many leadership roles in the firm, including as a senior corporate and international tax partner, a member of the Management Committee of KPMG in Canada and office managing partner in Ottawa.  In this latter role, Mr. McDonald led the firm’s efforts in serving the Government of Canada, with particular emphasis on the Department of National Defence, Public Services and Procurement Canada, and Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada. 

 Mr. McDonald is an active professional and community volunteer.  He is a member of CPA Ontario, CPA Canada and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados.  He is also a member of the Defence and Security committee for the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada and serves on the executive of the Institute of Corporate Directors (Ottawa Canada chapter).  Grant received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his volunteer efforts. He has been published in a number of professional and industry journals and regularly presents at industry seminars and conferences.
