John Loewen
Managing Director
John Loewen has a lengthy number of years of investment banking & international finance experience in South Africa, Canada, the UK and most recently Switzerland. Born and raised in Canada, he studied at Upper Canada College and then the University of British Columbia, after which he moved to South Africa in 1987. After much deliberation, he decided to forego becoming a professional hunter and joined the esteemed firm of Ivor Jones, Roy & Co (Deutsche Bank South Africa today) where he was a No.1 ranked research analyst, mining investment banker and head of Equity Sales & Trading. John then worked in London with Accel-KKR and several junior mining houses including Anglo, Billiton, Rio Tinto & Glencore to establish Global HubCo B.V. to develop global e-marketplaces for trading of commodities. After this, he crossed the pond once again and was CEO of Loewen & Partners Inc. in Toronto which provided investment banking and advisory services to private mid-market companies. In 2018, John moved to Zurich after learning that Switzerland is the world’s largest gold exporter and yet doesn’t mine an ounce, so must be doing something interesting.
